Learn How To Select The Most Durable Shutter In Las Vegas

Darik Neilson

A few weeks ago, a previous customer reached out to one of our stores in Texas. The client had lost their home to a tornado earlier this year, but the house’s Sunburst Polywood® plantation shutters survived.

The client’s house required a complete rebuild after the storm, but there were just a few louvers destroyed on a single shutter panel on one side of their house. No other shutter was damaged at all! The customers are currently rebuilding their home, and soon, their local Sunburst store will revisit the home to install the original shutters in their new home.

Most likely, your shutters won’t need to survive a tornado. But there are a few things to make sure of when choosing shutters in Las Vegas that are durable and will add charm to your home for years to come.

*Disclaimer: Sunburst Shutters doesn’t guarantee that their our products will withstand a tornado or other natural disasters, but this is a good example of the durability and hardiness of our Polywood shutters. See our lifetime warranty.

Solid Material

The first quality to look for when choosing a resilient window treatment is that it’s made from an extremely resilient material. For wood shutters, look for those built from hardwood that is known for being both solid and lightweight. Both furniture grade teak and basswood (the woods used in our Ovation® shutters) meet this criteria.

For faux wood shutters, choose shutters constructed from a solid polymer like our Polywood® shutters. These shutters are more resilient than composite shutters, which have an interior wrapped with a PVC-like compound which more easily shows chips and scratches. The material Polywood shutters are composed of is also resistant to fire, moisture, and termites.

Top-Notch Construction

The structure of a shutter is an important piece of its durability. Polywood shutters include tension control pins that prevent the louvers from becoming loose. They also have epoxy-coated stainless steel staples which are incredibly hard to remove. Polywood’s core is solid, and its joints are fortified and glued , resulting in superb toughness. Our Ovation shutters are the only five star wood shutter in the world and are made with two different types of joints: dowel joints and mortise and tenon joints, which allows for extra stability. We are the only company that makes shutters constructed to survive the most extreme conditions.

Sunburst Shutters also takes special consideration in the measuring, creation, and installation processes so that you receive beautiful custom shutters that complement your windows perfectly.

Color Which Lasts

It’s normal to want shutters that will be just as beautiful long after installation. Other composite shutters tend to lose their color over their lifetime. Our Polywood shutters are covered with a unique paint that contains UV-inhibitors which keeps your shutters looking brand-new. Our entire line of shutters are a breeze to keep spotless by simply wiping with a cloth.

When purchasing shutters or other window treatments, the product’s warranty is another key detail. When selecting a high-quality shutter, you want a warranty to guarantee your investment. Our Polywood shutters come with a lifetime warranty against any problems in materials, workmanship, paint finish, or installation. Our Ovation shutters include a warranty against any manufacturer imperfections.
